COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Maintaining a healthy relationship in the public safety life style can have unique challenges. This couples building event is designed to strengthen relationships and provide significant others with an understanding of the personality traits of the emergency worker. It identifies many aspects of emergency work that produce stress and recognizes signs and symptoms of distress. This course brings to the forefront the impact of emergency service careers on family members and provides survival tactics for emergency providers and their families.

Classroom:  The couples will listen to presentations from experts in the field of marriage, all kinds of personal and work relationships, communication, divorce, addictions and more. You will take part in couples building exercises together as well as fun and exciting physical "challenges".

Pre-Requisites:  The couples MUST be in a committed fire relationship, regardless of marital status. This is a TWO person event (both must register separately), therefore, both people must participate. At least one person in the relationship MUST be Fire certified and bring their gear; we will supply the gear for the significant other. If the Firefighter is not affiliated with a  Fire Department, we will provide their bunker gear. Upon registration, we will request a copy of their State Firefighter II Certificate OR their current Fire Department ID to verify their identity as a Firefighter.
