Course Description:  This course is designed to instruct a student to the level of Emergency Medical Responder to serve as a vital link in the chain of the EMS system. These skills are utilized when a medical emergency arises and continues until EMS agencies arrive on scene. The skills provided in this course can be utilized in the following settings:

• Firefighter I & II Students
• Corporate
• Industrial
• Retail
• Education facilities
• Law Enforcement
• Fire Rescue
• EMS
• Other work place or public assembly areas

Specifically, after successful completion of the program, the student will be capable of performing the following functions at the minimum entry level:

• Recognize the seriousness of the patients condition or extent of injuries to assess requirements for emergency medical care;
• Administer appropriate emergency medical care for life threatening injuries relative to airway, breathing and circulation;
• Perform safely and effectively the expectations of an Emergency Medical Responder.

This course was developed in a hybrid fashion and includes both online homework and a practical portion. Each course has a specific start and end date in which all online work and practical portion must be complete.

Pre-requisite:  BLS Healthcare Provider card issued by the Coral Springs Regional Institute of Public Safety.
