Course Description:  This course is the basis for conducting safe and systematic rescues in rope rescue situations. It addresses the job performance requirements and the requisite knowledge and skills.

This course covers several technical aspects involved in rope rescue; with the use of traditional classroom and practical exercises. The subjects covered include: Rescuer roles and responsibilities, different elements and purposes of rescue haul systems, belaying systems, changes of direction, ascending climbing systems, stokes basket operations, patient pick-offs, and tether systems. Instructional knowledge on how to properly construct and utilize mechanical advantage systems, belay systems, high point anchor systems, and haul systems conversion will be included. The program includes both written and lecture materials as well as thorough skills and hands-on interaction.

This is a State of Florida FLUSAR approved course. Students Completing the course meet the basic requirements to go on to advanced technical rescue courses. This course is designed to meet or exceed the applicable sections of NFPA 1670, Standard on Operations and Training for Technical Search and Rescue Incidents.

Student Supplies (not provided):

Textbook: CMC Rope Rescue Manual, 3rd edition - book is recommended, not required

Dress code: Appropriate station uniform/long sleeved shirts

By registering and paying for this course, the student agrees to the Release and Waiver and Photo/Video Release and Waiver as stated below.

FOR CORAL SPRINGS REGIONAL INSTITUTE OF PUBLIC SAFETY TRAINING, TESTING, AND/OR EDUCATION

In consideration for my acceptance to a training, testing, and/or educational program at the City of Coral Springs, I agree to sign this Release and Waiver. Accordingly, I agree to unconditionally release, waive, and discharge the City of Coral Springs, its Commission members, employees, agents, and servants, all hereafter referred to as “releases,” from all claims and causes of action, that I, my personal representatives, assigns, heirs, and next of kin, may have for any loss, damage, or injury to person or property, whether caused by the negligence, or otherwise of the releases in connection with my participation in any training, testing, and/or educational program at the City of Coral Springs. In addition, I agree to indemnify completely, the releases against all claims, demands, made by or on behalf of me in relation to my participation in any training, testing, and/or educational program and all causes of actions arising out of my own actions or involvement with the City of Coral Springs. 

If you are registering a child under the age of 18 or an incapacitated adult you represent and warrant that you are the parent or legal guardian of that party and have the legal authority to enter into this agreement on their behalf and by proceeding with this event registration, you agree that the terms of this Agreement and Waiver shall apply equally to all Registered Parties. By registering a child under 18, you agree and consent to the collection of that child’s information which you provide for the purposes of registration.

I hereby confer on the City of Coral Springs the absolute, irrevocable right and permission to use my image, in City media that includes but is not limited to print, digital or video format, for the purposes of public information, historical documentation, and/or promotion of City events and activities. I give my consent freely, with the understanding that no remuneration of compensation will be forthcoming.


I HAVE CAREFULLY READ THE FOREGOING RELEASE AND WAIVER AND KNOW THE CONTENTS THEREOF AND AGREE TO THIS RELEASE AND WAIVER AS MY OWN FREE ACT. 


I expressly agree that this Release and Waiver is intended to be as broad and as inclusive as permitted by the laws of the State of Florida, and that if any portion thereof is held invalid, it is agreed that the balance shall notwithstanding, continue in full force and effect.
