The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose.  Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA.  Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the AHA.

Course Description:        This course is designed to prepare qualified instructors to teach CPR, use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and how to relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. It will include a review of essential skills and BLS concepts, equipment use, and AHA instructor expectations.  You must demonstrate your proficiency in teaching and performing BLS skills and concepts, teaching BLS Healthcare Provider CPR or Heartsaver AED in a typical classroom setting, and evaluating BLS for Healthcare Provider students fairly and provide appropriate remediation, as needed.

Course Pre-requisites:    A current BLS Healthcare Provider card and completion of the core instructor course.  Visit, Click on the BLS Instructor Essentials and pay the $30.00 fee.  Complete the BLS Essentials Course online, which takes about 2 hours, and submit the course completion certificate before the day of class.

Students must have 2 five minute teachbacks outlined and ready to be delivered the day of the course.  One teach back must be related to AHA or BLS and the second teachback can be any topic chosen by the student.  All teachbacks must be in written ourline and executed during class.


Application requirements:      $185.00 Total.  $30.00 online course fee (payable when signing on up online).  $155.00 class tuition (payable with your application) and valid photo ID.

Certificate:         2 year certification card through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Study Material:  Use your own BLS Healthcare Provider or Heartsaver CPR Instructor Manual
