The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose.  Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA.  Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the AHA.


 

Course Name:                PALS Instructor

Course Hours:                9 hours           

 

Course Description:        The purpose of a PALS Instructor Course is to develop proficiency in teaching, organizing, coordinating and conducting a PALS Provider Course. Candidates must demonstrate satisfactory performance of course scenarios, interactive case presentations, skills presentations, and skills in student testing, assessment, and remediation. All instructors will review and become familiar with all of the PALS equipment and stations during the instructor course. Candidates must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of course organization; course content, including appropriate BLS skills; and Instructor responsibilities; as well as the AHA guidelines for PALS.Instructor candidates will be asked to present two10-minute presentations on a given topic, which will be presented to the other instructor candidates during the course.  The instructor will monitor the student teacher.After successful evaluation the student teacher will be provided with a course completion card and two year certification as a PALS Instructor.

Course Pre-requisites: A current PALS and BLS Healthcare Provider card.  Completion of the core instructor course.  Visit www.onlineaha.org/courses, Click on the PALS Instructor Essentials and pay the $35.00 fee.  Complete the PALS Essential Course online, which takes about 1.25 hours, please bring your completion certificate with you on the day of class.

 

Application requirements: $155.00 class tuition, $15 card fee and valid photo ID. 

Certificate: 2 year certification card through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Who is this class for:   Physicians, Pediatricians, nurses, paramedics, and medical professionals who are interested in teaching PALS.

A PALS Instructor card expires two years from the issue date. To maintain current status, the PALS Instructor is required to:

In consideration for my acceptance to a training, testing, and/or educational program at the City of Coral Springs, I agree to sign this Release and Waiver. Accordingly, I agree to unconditionally release, waive, and discharge the City of Coral Springs, its Commission members, employees, agents, and servants, all hereafter referred to as “releases,” from all claims and causes of action, that I, my personal representatives, assigns, heirs, and next of kin, may have for any loss, damage, or injury to person or property, whether caused by the negligence, or otherwise of the releases in connection with my participation in any training, testing, and/or educational program at the City of Coral Springs. In addition, I agree to indemnify completely, the releases against all claims, demands, made by or on behalf of me in relation to my participation in any training, testing, and/or educational program and all causes of actions arising out of my own actions or involvement with the City of Coral Springs. 

I HAVE CAREFULLY READ THE FOREGOING RELEASE AND WAIVER AND KNOW THE CONTENTS THEREOF AND AGREE TO THIS RELEASE AND WAIVER AS MY OWN FREE ACT. 

I expressly agree that this Release and Waiver is intended to be as broad and as inclusive as permitted by the laws of the State of Florida, and that if any portion thereof is held invalid, it is agreed that the balance shall notwithstanding, continue in full force and effect.
